Mt. Biking the Big Quilcene River.

John and Rob Mt. biking 8/31/2000.  Round trip was 23 miles.

The Quilcene is located on the eastern side of Washington's Olympic Peninsula. This whole area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, with it's countless trails (most still open to Mt. bikers) and the Olympic National Park.

As you can see from the pictures this is a classic trail with some technical parts but nothing a novice such as myself couldn't handle.  I think the hardest part was the climb to the start of the trail, which consisted of half dirt half paved logging roads for about 10 miles.  We reached the trail head and started our single track decent through the pristine forest.  The trail was mostly clear from blow down and all of the bridges were in tip top shape.
